We all know groceries are necessary and I thought for ages that I had optimised my spending by finding the best deals. I usually got meat from Lidl but usually went to Tesco for the big shop as everything was under one roof. My girlfriend suggests I use Lidl for the entire weekly shop and I was amazed how much I actually saved.
Essentially save €46 from a usual €110 grocery bill, a 42% saving. Literally the only change was going from Tesco to Lidl and avoiding the branded stuff.
Invest this over 10 year and I'll have an extra €32,000 in the stash! So if you have Lidl or even Aldi or whatever equivalent, definitely try it out! Or can see it as a €2,400 reduction in yearly expenses so it knocks time off your FI year.
Does anyone else have any other suggestions of where you can save on the necessary expenses?
