The gist of it is, Dyson is very good at marketing and their designs are gorgeous but their stuff are way overpriced. Honestly, not saying it because of the love-to-hate-on-Dyson bandwagon you find on Reddit (especially against their vaccums) and FWIW their hairdryer and hand dryers are genuinely worth it.
Yes, the 3-in-1 Pure Hot+Cool can do all 3 features, but they don't do each function especially well. It's a jack of all trades - mediocre at many but master of none. For instance, the highest setting on the Dyson is honestly less powerful than the "1 out of 3" setting on my regular $10 fan which is shameful considering the powerful streams they can achieve with their hairdryer/hand-dryers. And yes the purifier can remove 99.95% of particulates, but because the base of the fan is so small with a limited number of vent holes, it takes a very long time to have a significant impact relative to the volume of the room and can't suck in that much air that quickly, so you'll have to leave it run a long time.
And honestly I prefer the feel of the regular $10 fan because the "air buffering" (which Dyson says is a bad thing) is actually what makes a fan feel so calming because it's a natural breeze and that variability in air flow is good. It's marketing speak - Dyson created a problem to fit a "solution" they had. The continuous stream from a Dyson doesn't do much to help you to feel cooler and doesn't have that relaxing quality.
The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool also uses at least 1.5kw and up to 3kw of energy which is just as much, if not more than a conventional wall mounted A/C system! Or the same as a regular refrigerator. That thing is incredibly energy intensive and will run up your energy bills - so it's not just expensive to purchase, but to own and run aswell.
If I used the Dyson fan as much as my regular $10 fan (several hours a day) which is a simple motor that uses momentum (so very little energy) it would cost me almost as much annually in energy costs (in a country where energy prices are moderately expensive country) as the initial purchase price!
If you want to spend that kind of money - buy a portable air conditioner, a fan, a space heater and an air purifier separately and use accordingly.
The only reason I would consider the "bladeless" fan (which is actually just hidden in the base) is if you want to put it in a room where a baby or toddler is so there won't be any risk them hurting themselves (from the fan blade or hot surfaces)
TL;DR - way too expensive, inefficient and the product isn't even that good. Not BIFL.
