I have always liked lululemon. I own 1 pair of sweatpants, 2 pairs of leggings, and 5 pairs of shorts, so you could definitely call me a frequent buyer. However, I am always on the look out for a cheaper consistent alternative. When I saw the post here about the Aerie Real Me High-Waisted Leggings, I decided to give them a shot since they were on sale for $20. Here is my honest review:

Lululemon Align

Content: 88% Nylon and 12% Lycra

Pros:

Texture: I used to work at goodwill, so I am pretty in tune with fabrics because I touched hundred of clothing items a day! I think lulu does have the aerie leggings beat in terms of texture. Some leggings have more of a slippery athletic feeling to them, while some feel more cottony if that makes sense. I personally think lulu is softer and cottony-er.

Sizing: I like lulu's sizing better. There is a wider range of sizes, and the store has free hemming. Despite the fact that a lot of people say that the aerie leggings run big, I found them very small. I wear a 6 in lulu, and ordered a small in aerie and they barely go over my butt.

Aerie Real Me

Content: 88% Nylon and 12% Elastane

Pros:

Price: The sale price was $19.97, and this is a great legging for that price. Aerie has consistent sales, so you have frequent opportunities to buy them at a discount.

Tightness: Lulu's fabric is more light weight, but aerie is more compressive and tighter because of the elastane.

Length: These fit me right off the rack. Although lulu has hemming, it's not always convenient to wait for hemming.

Things that are the same

They both have a great super high waist, pass the squat test, and stay put. Overall, I would say that these are very similar other than a difference in feel.

TLDR; I like lulu better, but aerie is worth it for the price. I would honestly say the difference in texture is worth it to me since I usually wear my lulu as athleisure and not to work out. However, the aerie legging is a great alternative, and I would probably work out in them since they seem to have more of a compression feel.
