My mom lives alone on disability, and because of some poor choices gets only roughly $40 in food stamps. My sister and I want to get her something useful this year without paying her bills, because we both are working our way out of debt currently and honestly don't have the extra money to. We thought about making a bunch of homemade "TV dinners" because my mom doesn't really know how to cook much and she's a big microwave person. I'm not sold on the idea, so what would everyone here get their parents if they were in a similar situation?
EDIT: she lives in somewhat of a retirement building and doesn't like to leave home much. Watches a lot if TV, doesn't really have hobbies. Occasionally she goes to visit "friends" but most are of questionable character. She is 52.
