Hello all! My family and I are moving across the country (CA-> NY) and are about to list our house. We stand to make ~$200k profit (after fees and whatnot) but we’re not immediately looking to purchase a home in NY (I guess the money will just sit in our savings account??). Will the sale of our house count as income? We’re going to be couch surfing for a bit until we find a house we like in NY...will we need to pay rent or anything to our friends and family? This is our first sale so any advice is much appreciated, thank you! Please let me know if I can provide more details!
