I've always really wanted to buy a house. My dream house was around 150k (unfortunately it's been sold since then), which i've been told is pretty cheap. However, I dont even know where to being to save up for buying a house or what my options are. Or even if I should give up trying at all.
Right now I make around 10-12k per year. This will be my second year. The cap on my current position is around 37,440k a year. I dont have any dependants and my current job is the only income. I do have a savings account but there's only 200 dollars in it ($10 deposited automatically every paycheck- last drained when my car broke down). I unfortunately racked up a lot of credit card debt attempting to pay my rent/pay for food/pay for car repairs when I was laid off from my last job. Because of that, my credit is basically shot. This debt currently sits around 4k.
I'm thinking of selling a lot of my stuff (old trading cards, video game systems/games, collectables, etc) but that can only get me so far. I dont spend much on food (i've lived on a box of crackers for a week when times got bad) and I try not to spend much overall. However, it seems that, between rent, bills, gas and food, I end up with very little left over.
And, no, getting a second job is not an option. Both health reasons and my situation with my current job means I would not be able to take one on again.
Is there anything I can do to help me eventually own a house? Or is this just something out of my reach entirely? Any help is appreciated!
