I’m currently working for a logistics company making $12/hr. The issue is that the work is dependent on the weather and I live in a state where it rains often and unpredictably. Also, taxes are not taken out of my check, which is nice in the short term but I dont even know how I’m gonna deal with that later. Also, my daily commute, to and from work is about 2 hours. Also, it is a very disorganized, small business. I sometimes get shorted hours that I have to dispute. I ended up getting paid what I’m owed but it’s a hassle nonetheless.

My other option is working for UPS. I applied for a seasonal job making $10/hr, taxes taken out. The hours are much less than the logistics company but they are consistent and not contingent on weather. Also, there is potential to get hired officially depending on the quality of my work, which I’m confident I can stand out in. Also, they claimed to me that the pay will soon be increased to $13/hr depending on a pending company wide change. Also, UPS has a lot of opportunity to advance with amazing benefits.

I’m currently not in the best financial situation so I’m struggling in deciding whether to go with the short term payout or the long term investment.

What should I do?
