tl;dr - Can I make a door slab just by layering two or three pieces of plywood or MDF?I have an area under some stairs that I use to house my networking gear and home security stuff. I had a break-in and now I realize that I need to secure this area with a door. Of course, since it is under the stairs, instead of the door being a standard opening, it's got a steeply angled top. I know that I can't get a typical interior hollow core door, because I can't cut it down that much, but I'm also having troubles finding *any* kind of a door at Home Depot or Lowes that I can just cut down without having to rebuild the stiles or rails. This leads me to think I should just glue a few layers of plywood or MDF to get the required thickness to create my own door slab. Can I do that, or will the screws not hold very well on the hinges? I see some resources online talking about using "fillet" pieces around the perimeter first, but if I can get away without it, I will. Do you have any other suggestions to look into?Unfortunately I don't have a planer or all the clamps necessary to do a full glue-up of a bunch of 2x4's - but that's another possibility. The rough opening dimensions are ~30" wide, left side is 58" tall, right side is 37" tall. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2DIZ8vZ
