I live in Brazil with my wife and our almost-two-year-old daughter. I'm 24 years old, have an economics degree, and zero professional work experience. My wife is 28, with a master's in economics, and zero work experience. I support us by teaching English online for $20 an hour, a job that I hate and don't want to do any longer than I have to.

We will be moving to the U.S. in June and have our sights set on Seattle, where I grew up, where my friends and family live, and where I know to be a great place to grow up. My income alone definitely isn't enough to support us in Seattle, where rent for a conveniently-located one-bedroom is at least $1500. Other stuff is really expensive there. This is all banking on us both landing professional jobs when we get there, which is terrifying. I'm taking some edx courses in python and PowerBI, but I still don't feel like a competitive applicant based on my resume. I am a great communicator and I love working with people, so I feel that I would be okay if I could get some interviews.

We plan on living minimally and doing lots of free things. We hate spending money and are pretty good at budgeting. We also do not plan to own a car. But even if we both get 40k/year jobs (a big "if" considering our lack of experience), after rent, bills, student loan repayments (28k), childcare, life insurance, health insurance and irregular expenses, we are broke. We will have ~12k saved up for move-in costs and initial expenses. We'll have to do a sublet or airbnb until we find something more permanent.

My question:

Is it a bad choice to move to Seattle? Does our plan sound doable? It seems like the best bet for jobs, but it's also really expensive. This is our chance to start our lives fresh, and we don't want to start out with ridiculously high expenses and low income. What would be the smart thing to do?

If I was single with no kids I would try to live in a van and try to save half of my income, but that's obviously not an option.
