Hi 🙂 I have been spending the last couple of weeks trying to find the best winter coat. I live in Northern Canada where we get brutal winters and I am tired of wasting money on jackets that are: simply not warm enough; just have style but no substantial warmth; or break down after two winters. I am willing to invest money into a coat so I don’t ever have to buy a winter coat ever again. I am down to the following 4 options and need help deciding:
Pros: stylish, the cheapest out of the four, has 700 downfill Cons: reviews of the brand are kind of wishy washy making me think that it might not last forever
Pros: I hear a lot of good stuff about the quality of LL bean jackets. This jacket is definitely more substance than style Cons: Reviews say that the coat fits quite large with some people saying it’s borderline frumpy
Pros: the holy grail for some people. Lots of reviews on being the warmest coat people have owned. Made in Canada. Cons: expensive. I would prefer not having real fur on the jacket but this is not a dealbreaker . Not waterproof (or as waterproof as the Arc’teryx coat below)
Pros: uses Goretex which will last long in terms of water resistance and wind proof. Uses 750 downfill, the most out of all four jackets and also the lightest in weight. Cons: the most expensive.
