I know this will differ by make and age, but just trying to gauge if I am paying to much on maintenance. My car is fairly old, 2000 Honda Accord, and I have been spending about $1,200 on average for 8 years to maintain it. This is not counting gas, tires, or insurance. Is $1,200 too much to be spending on car maintenance or is it normal? Trying to decide if I should continue to maintain it or move on. Car value is currently between $800- $1600 if sold privately and has over 230,000 miles. I bought the car with 100,000 so timing belt, brake pads, alignments, and many other maintenance were needed during those 8 years.
