On the advice of this sub, I decided to buy an Aeron. I found a size B off Craigslist a few months ago and gave it a shot. Right off the bat my first impression was that it wasn't particularly comfortable. The plastic curves on the chairs dig into my hips fairly hard and painfully. The adjustable lumbar pad just makes it hurt my hips more. The raised upper plastic part doesn't let me put my elbows behind the chair. The plastic sides on the seat don't let me spread my legs. I didn't realize how much I didn't enjoy sitting in this chair until I sat in a plain ass wooden chair and my back actually felt relieved.
At first I thought that this chair just wasn't for me, but then I started reading some reviews of the Aeron. One thing that came up somewhat often was that the chair wasn't supposed to to "comfortable" in the traditional sense. Like you couldn't just sit back and lounge in it. It was made to practically force you to sit up and assume the proper upright seating position, like a strict teacher in primary school. And admittedly if there was one thing the Aeron did, it forced me to sit up straight and proper. So people on this sub with the Aeron, is this how the Aeron is supposed to work, like a posture correction tool? Or does this just sound like some Stockholm Syndrome-tier rationalization?
