Hey guys,

I'm mainly a buy and hold type of investor, but this year I've realized some gains and I'd like to understand how tax loss harvesting works to offset some of that. I'm not sure I understand it 100%, so I could use some help. Here's my scenario

I sold 2 batches this year.

Batch 1 - Long Term Capital Gain of $3000.

Batch 2 - Short Term Capital Gain of $1500.

All the other stocks that I currently own, I've held for more than 12 months, so all are long term. There are a few on which I have some losses, and I would like to sell them as I don't want them in my portfolio any longer. I have a loss of $1000 on one of them, $500 on another, and a couple more with $500 combined, making it $2000 total. How will selling these impact my taxes?

Also, how much would I need to sell to offset the gains, considering one of the gains was short term and other was long term? Appreciate any help. Thanks!
