So I have a decision to make in the next day or two..

I'm currently working for an IT company making $12/hr. I've only been here for 3 months and I like the management and everything, but I'm pretty underpaid for what I'm doing. I'm in school though and living with my parents so I don't have any bills to worry about except for my school bill (which I'm paying for out of pocket).

I just got a job offer from a different company doing the same exact thing but making $16/hr. The only thing is that it's a contract position for the next 6 months and they "may or may not extend this to a full time position". So do I take the gamble making more money in the short term? Or do I stay at my current job and just ride it out and hope for a promotion here (they told me I can't get promoted or get any kind of raise until I've been here for a year at my current job)?

Any suggestions?
