I’m not sure if this belongs here, but I’ll post it anyway. If there is a better sub for this, please let me know. Today is my daughter’s third birthday. Instead of having some over the top birthday, with tons of acquaintances and decorations,I decided to keep things simple. I got her a gift, decided on Costco pizza, my sister is bringing drinks, and I decided to bake cupcakes. I tried my hand at fancy frosting and threw some sprinkles on top. We don’t have a big family, just me, husband, and baby and my sister’s (also small) family. I feel so happy knowing she will get the full birthday experience, just on a smaller scale, and with people who love her. I also feel relieved knowing I didn’t have to plan some big event or spend a ton of money. I know she will love it because to her the small things are a big deal- a new toy, even if just one, drinking a sugary drink like soda or juice, cake, a song, and candles. I have to remember to take a cue from her and enjoy the little things more.
