The biggest thing is I provide care for my parents. I was born to refugees who worked 3 jobs to raise me. Now I'm paying it back. There is nowhere else for them to move to that won't destroy their quality of life due to the fact that they live in a very small social enclave in NY. I cannot find an alternative and I would not uproot their lives.
Therein lies the problem, I guess. And I don't know what to do.
I make $140k/year before taxes in NYC. I take home about $7000/month.
I pay for my parent's rent + living expenses, which comes out to about $1000/month (my parents spend half their social security check on rent and rest on food already). I also pay for my grandma's assisted living, which comes out to $500/month.
That's already about 20% of my paycheck.
I got sick of living at home with my parents and I'm already in my late 20s... so I decided to rent my own place earlier this year. I pay $1900 for a dump. So that's another 25% of my paycheck.
I'm at around 50% of my paycheck now. The rest goes towards groceries ($400), medication/medical bills ($200-300), wrestling gym ($150), weed ($100), and the rest goes towards chipping away at my student loans. I started with about $200k. I owe about $40k more. So I should be done in about 15 months.
I feel like I've been doing this endless cycle of paycheck-to-paycheck for so long now (8-9 years) and I'm getting to a point where I'm getting old and I have almost no savings... really need to some advice on what to change or how to change.
