So my wife and I bought a house a year ago. It was $355,000. We put $71,00 down. We owe $278,00 on the mortgage. Our monthly payment is $1,680/month and $99/month for HOA.
Car 1 payment: $250/month (two years left on payments) Car 2 payment: $150/month (four years left on payments) Internet: $59/month. Electricity: $125/month. Water/Waste: $100/month. Car Insurance: $115/month Gas: $150/month Cell Phone: $48/month Dog Food: $62/month Groceries/Home Essentials/Baby Stuff: $450/month+
My net income is $2,400/month. My wife’s net income is $1,600/month.
I love this house but we basically can’t afford to live here. I feel like a failure as a husband and man of the house. We had a roommate for a little bit that was paying $400/month which helped but she has moved out and gotten her own place. We don’t want some rando since we have a one year old. My house would rent for $2,200-$2,400/month in my neighborhood. Our realtor told me if he were to list it he would put it up for $399,900 which is what he thinks the house is worth. I know we got a smoking deal on it. Our realtor said they had a very inexperienced realtor (poor ad, no professional photos taken, pictures taken even before they painted and moved all their furniture out).
My biggest worry right now is our credit card. We have about $6,500 on it right now. $1,500 of that was from a recent surgery my dog had (he ate my wife’s underwear). Stupid dog (I love him so much).
We are toying with the idea of moving in with relatives and renting our house out till I find a job that pays more and we can pay off our credit card and have something saved away.
What should I do?
