Our house suffers from damp. A damp surveyor checked the place out and advised we get two humidistat extractor fans - one for the bathroom and one for the kitchen. The house has poor natural ventilation and the old construction causes condensation buildup on exteral walls, exacerbated by substantial kitchen & bathroom steam.I have been researching extractor options for a while now, but it seems like such a minefield. Cost isn't a huge factor, but we need both fans to be humidistat controlled, quiet (especially in the bathroom), and obviously to have sensible extraction rates (probably a little more than calculators typically advise, to err on the side of caution). The trouble I keep running into is finding reviews for fans that tell me what I need to know to satisfy my requirements. Technical specifications are okay up to a point, but I'd like to know if people find the noise claims to be accurate, and whether the item is generally reliable. When I do find reviews, high proportions of them seem to say that the humidistat went faulty after a few months - even for generally highly rated products. I really don't know where to begin, and don't want to spend money on extractor fans that turn out to stop functioning as they should in a matter of weeks or months.Any help anyone can give would be hugely appreciated. Whether from personal experience, or through general knowledge of recommended manufacturers etc. It may also be important to note that I am based in the UK.Thanks so much for your help.
