So I just got a new water heater and it’s a high efficiency Bradford white model without a vacation setting or a pilot setting. The dial just shows temperature settings and there’s a switch to turn off the gas.I’m leaving for vacation for a few days and I usually turn the water main off. What should I do with the water heater? If I leave it on (honestly preferable so I don’t have to muck with it) and there’s a leak on a hot water line, will the water heater drain its tank (due to this theoretical leak) and potentially be in danger of firing its burner when the tank is empty? Which I assume is bad news? Thanks all! I am probably overthinking this. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2RWdehy
