HiI usually have no trouble with any DIY cat5e cables. This time I cannot find a reason why all 7 of my cables don't work. I just got a new house and wired up every room , cables all under the floorboard. For about 1 meter they travel along with 2-3 mains power cable as there is no other way to get to the wall. None of the 7 cables work, I've recrimped both ends 3 times, nothing lights up on the cable tester. I wired an 8th cable under the stairs in a different location which tests and works fine. Cat5e is blackbox branded and the same roll has never let me down before. Lengths are probably around 15-20m. I've tried different branded crimps. Quite gutted because 5 of these cables I won't be able to rewire as they go under the newly renovated bathroom! The only thing I can think of is that the mains wires are causing the issue. But would they completely stop the cat5e from transmitting data?If it is the mains cables, what's the best way to protect it? Will cat5e STP will be enough? Thanks, any tips from people with more experience would be brilliant via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2CAK17p
