When do I need to withdraw from my 529? I have some small expenses like books/tuition deposit that I made this semester. But my first tuition payment is not due until January 2019. Do I need to withdraw in the same calendar year I paid the expense? Or can I withdraw for my 2018 expenses in 2019?
I know with a HSA you can withdraw at anytime, even 10 years after the expense. But not sure what the rules on 529 are.
