My mom is older (60+) and stuck in an abusive marriage with my dad. She has an income but my dad provides nearly everything for her including her health insurance, he's made it so she's pretty comfortable financially but he is emotionally and verbally abusive and has major anger and impulse control issues. I personally believe she would leave him given the chance, but theres also part of me saying shes so brainwashed by the veil of love and the fear of being alone that she doesnt even realize how abusive he is because she wont leave him, that's beside the whole point of the post thought.
Since I dont want to lose my relationship with my mom after cutting of my relationship with my dad, I want to take her out. She deserves time away from that horrible man and time with her child who she loves. I need some frugal date ideas I could do with my elderly/nearly disabled low energy mom. She likes to go out to eat but that gets kinda old and really expensive. We were never close when I was growing up, I was very anti-social and didn't ever reveal personal info about myself because of my fathers reactions, so things like her coming over to my place and just hanging out have never happened and would be massively awkward in our current circumstances.
Im not trying to make up for lost years, I just want to make sure she gets to spend quality time with me as an adult since we have been so disconnected for years and she is getting older.
Tl;dr I need cheap date ideas to hang out with my mom.
