I recently noticed that my paycheck was being garnished for a student loan and was given the address and phone number of the company who is garnishing me. I have called them and they have no record of me and therefore can't give me any information. So now I have no idea what this loan is, if it's even valid or how to take care of setting up a payment plan so that I'm not garnished. I'm at a loss of what to do next. Also, I was under the impression that you needed a judgement against you in order to garnish wages which means I would have had to have been personally served a lawsuit correct? I'm very frustrated and not sure what to do next. If anyone has any insight I would appreciate it.
