I drive a 2008 Subaru Outback with 120K miles that has been a bit of a money pit the last few years. It’s a real pain as it’s just not reliable. Now I’ve got issues again. I’m single with no family in the area I live. It’s such a pain trying to coordinate getting it to the mechanic (time off work), not having someone to help me get it to the mechanic (have to get Uber or rental car). I’m unable to do my own work on the car (mechanically useless) and it costs a fortune every time I have to take it to the shop. The last visit was for the head gasket seals and that ended up being $2400. It’s at the point where the car is not reliable and as a single woman I’m not comfortable driving it anymore. I’m toying with the idea of a brand new car simply for the piece of mind but it completely goes against my frugal mindset. Thoughts?
