Hey folks. I've got this area (approx. 8'x12') at the building that I manage that the owners should really have paved so that it's not an awful muddy mess when it rains/snows, but they're not ready to spend the money on a proper job. I'm thinking about perhaps buying several bags of asphalt repair and packing it down, maybe with a gas powered plate compactor, as a temporary measure for at least the next winter (we're in Wisconsin). Any thoughts on the process or whether it will make for a decent surface? As it stands now, there's some asphalt that I assume is from around the time the garage was installed, which was a long time ago. I dug at the dirt down the middle of the path and was able to get down a few inches, but I don't really know the makeup of the whole area. That is to say, I don't know if it was all paved at one point and the years have led to all the asphalt in the middle breaking apart and slowly being tossed away chunk by chunk, or if most of the little path has only ever been packed dirt. My hunch is the former based on what I can see of the existing asphalt. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2p9uFxU
