I'm refinishing a 20-yr old oak dining room table and need some advice.PhotosMy current plan:tent my work area in the garagetable up on saw horsesand all surfacesapply wood filler to damaged areasapply grain fillerapply finish (black walnut)poly bottom (1 coat)poly top, sides and legs (3 coats), using microfiber roller for main areaMy questions:Regarding the damaged table corner: do I try to reshape this w wood filler, or just sand it down and make it look as presentable as possible? I do not have any of the original wood for a glue fix.Regarding the scratched up legs: wood filler will help, right? I've never used it before: how do I pick the best one? If this is too much for wood filler, any advice?Sanding: how far down do I take it? Till I can't see the bottle cap stains?Regarding the steel bars: I've never taken them off before. Should I remove, do my business on the underside, then re-attach before flipping over? Or, just play it safe and leave on, applying the poly up to their edges, etc.Grain filler: I've never used. Which one should I pick?Poly + my brushes: I have the worst luck in cleaning my brushes between use. I wrap them up, overnight, between uses, but anything longer than that and I end up ruining the brush. This is despite vigorous cleaning in paint thinner.(edited for formatting)Thank you for your help! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2wUqsla
