Hi all!

This is my first post here, although I have enjoyed lurking thus far. :)

I am not a particularly new investor, but have a question relating to my elderly father.

He recently purchased a subscription service for bond selection. He said he has not been able to find bonds at, or under, par through TD Ameritrade. This service he purchased (which I actually don't know the name of) will give him the cusip number of those that are. Once he enters the cusip number in TD Ameritrade he can view + purchase them, but he cannot view those particular bonds using TD's general search tools (or so he says - I wouldn't be surprised if there was some user error in this situation). He basically is using the service purely to get the cusip number so he can turn around and make the bond viewable in TD Ameritrade.

He paid $2k for this service, which seems insane to me. I feel like there must be either low cost or free resources that could get him the same information. While I am going to research this further on my own (I am admittedly very ignorant when it comes to bonds - my only experience is in stocks/CDs/ETFs/options), I wanted to also tap into the r/investing hivemind to see what you all suggest. I'm hoping if I can find him some solid resources soon enough that he can get a refund on this service. I would love any help you all may be able to offer! :)
