I was discussing stocks with a co worker and I mentioned that I bought 1 share of Google a few years ago. He was laughing and said he never heard of anyone owning just 1 share of a company.
Is this not common? I can understand it being weird to buy 1 share of a penny stock, but not a stock over $1,000 a share...
