I’d like to move from West Virginia to Indiana to find a better job. I currently earn $9.25/hr at a healthcare facility at a 22% tax rate, have been here since the middle of April and am saving as much as I can for the move. Things in my state and area are pretty bad and I’d like to get out. I’m hoping that my current job can transfer me to a facility up there after I find a place and take the plunge, but this is not certain yet.

I’d like to move as soon as possible, but am grinding out to make sure my move is as financially sound as possible to avoid any emergencies/fuck ups.

A) What kind of dollar amount should I be holding on to? I’m hoping for >$600/mo in rent and utility related expenses when all is said and done.

B) Should I wait for tax time next year? Is there a way to determine what my tax returns will be like this early?

C) Does anyone have any suggestions for websites/listings for apartments in Northern Indiana?

Lastly, is there any other advice that might be helpful to someone in my position? What should I be doing to prepare for this kind of move? Thanks for any advice guys.

(EDIT: Worth noting that I’m 22, in reasonable health, and living in a paid off RV that definitely wouldn’t survive the trip)
