I'm having a bit of trouble understanding what happened and want to call Ameritrade, but first I figured someone might be able to provide some clarifications.
I held a significant amount of X shares in #GGP for years. Received notice of merger with #BPY and I voted/elected to receive Y shares in cash and remainder in #BPR shares.
My thought was that I would be getting 1. Y*(GGP share price closing price)=CASH 2. X-Y=Z in BPR shares
But that's not what I received. Instead, based on the limited info in Ameritrades account history, I received about 80% of the cash I was expecting, and the cash was immediately used to purchase BPY shares. the BPY is wrong quantity of shares expected (about half), and wrong company (BPY instead of BPR).
Did I misunderstand the options of merger or did Ameritrade screw me?
