Sorry in advance for spelling or grammar. I am on a mobile device.

My girlfriend (at the time, now my wife) set ourselves some goals at 25. We wanted to be moved out of our home state, get married, and have all of our debts paid off before we turned 31 (so while we were still 30).

It took a us a long time of slowly chipping away at the debts. First we started with a medical bill or vet bill that was hanging on, then moved onto things like credit cards, and finally student loans or money I had borrowed from my parents that I was determined to pay back. We came up with a plan and we stuck too it even while our friends were spending money like crazy. We chose to delay vacations, or to wait to buy that new game, or repair something that was broken instead of just buying it new, or to search for used items instead of brand new.

I got a promotion which relocated us to a cheaper state to live in with WAY more fun amd free outdoor stuff to do. Because of that, we reduced the amount we were spending on entertainment and used the extra towards the bills. During that time we planned and payed for our wedding with just money we had saved while paying down our debts. We did not put any of the wedding expenses on credit cards or borrow any money for it.

We paid for the entire wedding out of pocket at the time of the wedding and walked away with some to spare.

Finally, earlier this week we made our final payment to the last of my wifes student loan and I am happy to say we are now officially 100% debt free before turning 31.

With a solid plan and attainable goals, anyone can do it!
