Brief introduction: ClassPass is an exercise program where you pay for a certain amount of credits each month. With those credits, you can try out "boutique" exercise studios, and it's usually more affordable than purchasing membership or a package at that studio.

I used to belong to ClassPass - I signed up with a friend's "free" code, which gave me enough credits for three classes. To cancel your membership (or they'll automatically charge you for the next month) you have to chat with someone through a messaging system. I was convinced I would cancel, and then they offered me a 50% discount on my next month's membership to stay. I cancelled successfully the next month, despite their warning/vaguely threatening response that there would be a reactivation fee if I ever changed my mind.

Anyway, yesterday I changed my mind. My friend really wanted to try out a new studio, and I've moved cities. ClassPass had been sending me emails for MONTHS trying to coax me to come back. I clicked on an email where they said they would waive my reactivation fee, but there was no other discount. It was $45 for 25 credits and $75 for 45 credits. For context, a lot of the studios near me are 15 credits per class. I thought about creating a new account to take advantage of their "free month" but they needed to text my phone number to complete registration, and I had already set up my number with my previous account.

As a last resort, I emailed their customer service department asking whether they had any "welcome back" or discount codes that could convince me to recommit. Within three hours I was sent a very friendly response with a 45 credit deal that worked out to $22 for 45 credits and no re-registration fee. This means it will be alittle less than $8 for every "boutique" class I plan on taking. Some of these classes retail for $34 a pop!
