I never even go around talking about my frugal habits, but if it comes up, even small things, often people will laugh and judge me for being "cheap and stingy". I live in the area of Canada with the highest consumer debt, everyone has toys and all the new and expensive gear.

I mention something like I don't have data on my cellphone because I will just use wifi at home, work or retail spaces and peoples minds are blown. Other people my age (Early 20s) could not survive without it in their own words and laugh at how cheap I am. But cell plans in this country are outrageous, it's not even that cheap because I still have call and text.

I buy almost all of my clothes used, I am young and fully self supporting so I can't afford to buy everything new and honestly I find some really great stuff at used stores. But other people my age who live with parents still judge and say that really "only poor people should be buying used clothes" or "wearing other peoples clothes".

Anyone else in the same boat? I don't even personally find myself THAT cheap, I do blow money here and there on things I value but I just find myself sensible. I don't know how many people my age can fully support themselves AND have all new name brand clothes, new fancy car, expensive phone plan etc.
