I'm closing on a new house in about 2 months. I had my home inspection yesterday and the Inspector noted that the main bathroom in the house has a tub but no shower head. (See attached photo) I have easy access to the pipes behind the tub so running a line for a shower head is not an issue. My issue is how to handle updating the area above the tile which comes up to about 4' or 5'. There is presumably plaster and lathe behind the wall paper that is there currently. Do I have to remove the plaster and add tile? Is there a bath fitter type solution that would work there? Can the window stay or will that be an issue and therefore do I need to seal that area up?
