A few weeks ago, I received a collection notice from a company "MRS Associates" regarding a $400 debt with Paypal listed as the creditor.
I do not recognize the amount, my Paypal account is in good standing, and I have never received any sort of correspondence from Paypal regarding this debt.
I am planning to write the following to the collection agency
- I would like all correspondence to be in written form
- I don't recognize the debt and believe it is fraudulent
- Please verify the debt.
I am concerned that Paypal may try to collect from my actual account which that is linked to my bank, and that this may show up on my credit score. Is there anything else I should be doing in this situation?
