I'm not sure why this deal is so good. I have 4 drivers in my family including a 16 year old and an 18 year old. I have been with Florida Farm Bureau for decades with life, home and car insurance and the rates had always been reasonable but starting about 2 years ago they started to go crazy. Not surprising, this is when I added a 16 year old boy to my policy.
Long story short, my insurance had climbed to $5390.00 every 6 months. I dropped my coverage's to get it down, but this made me feel very exposed. But with state minimums, I got down to about $3800.00.
I tried every website, including Progressive, to get quotes, and they all hovered around $3800.00.
I talked to a friend at a softball game who is an agent and within a day I had a quote for $1650.00 for Progressive. I don't understand why it would be so different. I'm not complaining - I reduced my car insurance by almost 70%, and I'm back at my higher coverage's.
I guess I've learned - don't trust the websites - talk to an agent.
