Hey everyone,

I’m a high school student who (hopefully) was supposed to join university this coming fall. Living as an immigrant in the Middle East, due to my dad not complying with the illegal demands of his firm, he was told to resign (and was hence, offered a fair amount of compensation too)

Before he was told to resign his role, the university I was supposed to attend was still expensive, but it was doable to pay for. Now, due to the compensation, if my dad doesn’t find a job, I can possibly only afford first year of university.

1) My country of birth doesn’t offer student loans to students outside the country

2) My country of residence is a fucking shit hole + my dad already has a mortgage to pay off here so loans aren’t possible

My current few options are:

1) Go to university as planned, and hope my dad finds a new job

2) Go to university as planned, but if my dad doesn’t find a job, switch / transfer to a cheaper university

3) Take a year off after high school, set my career back by an year and start university next year when my dad is hopefully more financially stable

4) Apply for January intake at cheaper universities

Any help at all would be appreciated.
