I saw a movie called 'La tête en friche' (roughly translated in english as 'My afternoons with Margueritte) starring Gérard Depardieu and Gisèle Casadesus. It is about a boy who was born out of wedlock and grew up illiterate. He lives in a camper parked outside his estranged mother's house. He works odd jobs here and there but he lives a happy life. He has plenty of real friends and he has never left his hometown except for occasional work errands. One day he meets an old woman sitting by the park and the rest is history. I think the movie is about hope, friendship, family, and I would say simple living. It only took me one movie to love and appreciate Gérard Depardieu as one of the best actors of our generation. I have seen this so many times and always gives me chills and tears at the same time. I watch this film whenever I feel down.

Also, a series called 'The Durrels' which is about a family who got fed up with their lives in the UK and moved to Corfu! I also love this one!
