I had my heart set on a Saddleback Leather Thin Front Pocket Backpack. After doing research on Reddit and /r/BuyItForLife, I have been turned off by the apparent decline in quality and hikes in prices.

I have a few main uses:
- Daily carry: Laptop, headphones, book, papers, knick-knacks
- Camping: Something I can load with a few supplies to explore near a campsite with
- Light travel: Clothing, toiletries, books, electronics
Some features I'm looking for:
- No zippers, no cloth linings (All leather, brass, stainless steel, etc.). I want this to last forever and would like to avoid obvious weak points and inevitable repairs.
- Water resistance. A design that will stand up to rain (overhanging top flaps?).
- Highest quality possible. I don't really have a budget for this item. I assume since I'm not looking for a designer bag, I wouldn't pay more than $1,000, but if there is a backpack that blows my requirements out of the water and is over $1,000, I wouldn't hesitate spending the money.
