Hello! This is my first time posting, so I apologize if I’m messing anything up here.I recently bought a home and there’s some very ugly insulation under the kitchen sink. I’m going to be replacing the sink itself in the near future, so I figured this was a good chance to do something about the insulation too.I live in an area that gets very cold in the winter and this is an exterior wall, so my best guess is that the existing insulation is there to prevent the pipes from freezing. If there’s another reason for it that I’m not thinking of, please let me know.I think what I’d like to do is replace this insulation with foam board insulation so it takes up less room and I can get a relatively flat surface. Is this a terrible idea, or will foam insulation with a sufficient R-value be just as good?I will post some pictures in the comments below. Thank you! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2OmOLjr
