Hi there, this is my first time posting of this subreddit so I’ll start with the basics. I’m 19 now, make around 34k a year pre tax and spend a little under 14k a year to live. Using Networthify.com I’ve estimated that it would take me 12 years to save enough to retire at the age of 31. Now I won’t stop working once I reach that goal but it’s still a nice thought and would be a big lift off my shoulders. But here’s the thing, I’m young now but eventually I’d like to start a family and kids are expensive! Any ideas/planning advice on how I could maintain my goal and still have the possibility of being financial able to have children? I don’t mind working more in terms of years, after all I’ll only be 31, but what’s a good way to plan for it? I’d be in relationship that would be financially stable and good with money but how, if you do have children, did you plan for it, or how are you planning for it if you are trying to convince?

That is to say I wouldn’t wait until 31 to start having children, but it would be something that would be planned and thought out fully with my spouse before actively trying. We would use contraceptives until then.
