I wasn't sure if this was legaladvice material or personalfinance, so I hope this post is kosher for this sub!
When my sister (17) first got her job I (27) opened up a minor account with her at the bank, because I KNEW our parents would try to steal from her and I didn't want them to have access to her money.
I didn't account for the fact that they could pressure her into giving them money. They tell her that she owes them for taking care of her. She buys groceries, gas, and has even made a payment on her father's car. She gives in because she's 17 and really doesn't have much of a choice.
What (if any) options do we have here? I don't expect she'll ever get repaid, but is there anything at all we can do to prevent then from taking more? Since I'm the person in charge of her account at the bank, is there something I can do? Is there anyway to, I don't know, move accounts around so her money can't get withdrawn?? I'm willing to do just about anything at this point. She needs to be able to save money so she can move away.
I'm just lost right now and I have no idea what to do. Any insight would be appreciated!
