dont be afraid to ask around or make friends with people who have land or garden
i asked my uncle if i could put a little garden in his yard. if he wanted any of the stuff grown he could help himself. i did all the work.
if you know someone who has a garden offer to mow their lawn or weed their garden for some of the harvest.
you can def work out agreements with people.
also my mom used to tell me stories that her side of the family was really poor and her grandfather had a lot of kids but no land so he used to go to a local stream and found a little out of the way spot and started a secret garden.
