There seem to be a lot of rule followers around these parts. The standard rules I'm referring to include, but are not limited to:
- Having a 3-6 month emergency fund
- Not buying a house with <20% down
- Prioritizing debt repayment
Etc, etc.
Are there any rules you don't follow, either by happenstance or because you just don't want to?
Personally, the biggest rule I break is, having housing costs of less than X%(?) of my take home/gross pay.
I splurge on housing. I don't want a roommate. I want the grocery store to be right across the street from me. I'll gladly pay the premium for all of this. For me it's almost like a part of my medical costs. I have a disability so I spend a lot of time at home. Living like this makes it so much easier on me physically and mentally.
Conversely I offset this cost by not having a car. I either take public transportation or Uber.
