Hi r/DIY!This ugly, sinking slab of concrete was 20 inches thick and was built in the 1960's. We wanted it gone. We wanted to build a nice, easy to maintain patio in its place. What I started with:Original Concrete PatioWhat I did already:Whole lot of rubbleWhere I'm at now:All cleaned up!Where I wanted to be:Original ground level patio concept artWhat I'm THINKING about doing:Potential screened in porch concept artI've done a lot of research on basic ground-level deck construction, but I can't find very much information on building a screened-in porch. How would I attach it to the existing structure? Is there a way to construct the original deck so that it can be expanded upon and turned into a screened-in area at a later date without much modification? How do I attach and extend the existing roof structure? Any advice would be appreciated. Some technical notes:- I plan on using composite decking.- This is just my wife and I working on this, with a limited budget for materials and tools only.- We're, like, not professionals. In any way, shape, or form. Everything we've done so far is for the first time. Talk to us like we're dumb children. Thanks all! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2u9L888
