I have a carbon fiber/plastic tripod with metal threads that got washed away at the beach and filled with sand. All of the tripod sections screw together and use a thick silicone type clear lubricant on them, and all the sand is stuck embedded in the grease/threads.Some of the female threads are very hard to get to thoroughly, even with a brush, so I'm looking for anything that would do a good job where i can soak the parts to dissolve the grease and get rid of the sand without damaging anything.I found an old thread where someone recommended varsol but they don't make that in the US anymore. I tried a citrus degreaser but it seemed like it wasn't strong enough on its own. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2JydeyX
