I work for a rather large grocery. And something i learnt was the frosting they use on their cakes come in 5 gallon buckets. And they throw them out when they are done. So I asked for them and they gave them to me. Sweet. Noe I can store my fertilizer and other garden stuff in them and they are airtight.
Which goes to the second part. Plants occasionally come in cheap flower pots and when/if the plant dies they toss the whole thing including the pot. So I asked and they let me have them. I got 20 pots for free. Not fancy but great for cheap flowers. And in the same department they get black buckets that hold their roses and such in them. Make great trash cans
Idk if the same rules apply to customers as to employees but can't hurt to ask right?
