One of my projects requires an air compressor that can move up to 100 grams of air into a storage tank within a short (under 20 seconds) time frame. As weight is the most important consideration, the storage tank will be a 2-liter soda bottle or something similar, which is capable of withstanding 50 psi.The compressor system will be a ballast control for a model blimp, so the whole thing has to weigh less than 40 grams ideally. I'm leaning towards piston or rotary designs for simplicity, with rotary vane or turbine types looking attractive. Making a compressor seems simple, but I'm having a hard time creating an optimal design without knowing which compressor type is inherently superior for my purposes. Also, the materials and the procedure for actually making it. Would it be better to 3d print components or make them by hand?Edit: If I can avoid it, I'm not going to make the motor or battery (obviously) from scratch. I'll likely buy or scavenge those. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2MXRwX7
