So my SO and I just moved into an apartment and unfortunately the main living area doesn't have a window suitable for an AC. We have a 12000 BTU window unit in the bedroom, and it just wasn't cooling the rest of the space nearly enough. So we ended up grabbing a 10000 BTU LG portable AC and I'm currently venting it out the patio door. I created a wedge with styrofoam that runs the height of the door with a piece of the window mounting kit held vertically so I can attach the exhaust hose to it. The problem is, due to having the interior sliding doors open to exhaust the air, rainwater collects in the doorframe and actually leaks into the apartment. We had a pretty hefty storm today and (thankfully) we noticed a pretty large pool of water collecting on the floor in front of the patio door.Anyone have any suggestions to make this weather proof? Or a better idea entirely? I really don't want to have to shut the doors and turn the AC off any time it decides to rain.Any help would be greatly appreciated! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2NsWwUw
