I bought a detatched property 2 years ago, and after renovating the inside, the final main task is to replace the side gate across a path between my and neighbour's property. The path is my property, and only allows access to my garden/back door/utilities. Currently the path has a single width of paving slabs, with appx 250mm of gravel on weed control fabric either side.My neighbour is nice and i would like to install the gate with as much respect to her property as possible. I have discussed with her and she doesnt mind anchoring to her property if necessary (i said i was researching the best method for install), as long as it is done 'properly'. Ideally i would like to avoid the expense of a contractor.I would like advice on a few points to installing a gate across the path:Am i right in thinking that sinking a post in concrete may introduce damp to her (and my) foundation, and so attatching a post to the property (with sleeve anchors?) is probably the least damaging way to achieve it?Are there any tips i need to keep in mind when attaching the post (e.g. angle the hole upwards) to make the job proper?Wind can blow quite severely down the path, is there anythign i can do to robustify the gate against the wind (i don't think i want to fit a gate with gaps, although i'm aware that would solve the problem)related, is there anything i can do at install to reduce rattling? Many thanks for any and all help, I want to make sure i have everythign laid out in mind (and discussed with neighbour again) before starting this project. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2LQZ7Xn
